Feedback & Suggestions / Re: 4images 1.7.3 - Feedback
« on: July 22, 2006, 01:59:55 PM »
Read docs/CAPTCHA.english.txt for a detailed description of the CAPTCHA configuration options.

----------------------------------------------------------
How to enable the CAPTCHA system:
  ----------------------------------------------------------

The CAPTCHA System is enabled by default.

-- Advanced control of the CAPTCHA system ----------------

You can control the CAPTCHA system in your config.php with
  the following configuration variables:

  - $cache_enable = 1;
A value of 1 enables the CAPTCHA system, 0 disables it.
      Default value is 0.

  - $captcha_enable_comments = 1;
A value of 1 enables the CAPTCHA system for the comments
      form, 0 disables it.
      Default value is 1.

That doesnt give much help on how to  configure it
unless 4images 1.7.3 are for DEVELOPERS and PHP GURUS  only ?

simple: where do we change and configure the CAPTCHA and where in config.php to add/alter/delete code ?

Is there a mod that shows to the image owner ( when logged in )
shows him/her the BBCODE url to his own image hes viewing ?

when a member is viewing his OWN images, under the image he would see
Code: [Select]
[IMG]http://www.domain.com/4images/somefolder/image.jpg[/IMG]   [copy]
the [copy] would be a button that when pressed, copies URL code to clipboard so user can paste  onto a remote site/forum/ebay etc.

Why has there been no public discussion or disclosure of status of 4images version 2 ?

What mods are included ?

what features  do administrators want ?
I dont see 4images developer asking that

v@no statement in a post here http://www.4homepages.de/forum/index.php?topic=11873.msg63813#msg63813 makes me wonder

he said " ...maybe if v2 ever comes out.... "

other photogallery projects has just taken off ( coppermine , gallery.menalto etc. )  and keeping up with thetimes, but it seems 4images is still as said in that topic "dead" ( creeping )

so whats planned for version 2 ?
let us know some of the standard features etc.

Can users create private albums ? ( public album, private passworded album, invite only albums )
Admin can limit amount of album allowed to be created by usergroup ?
Is PrivateMessaging standard ?
Usergroups permissions ?
Admin limit total allowed images by user or total allowed space by user ?
4Images need a more personal Member Profile system, where users can add information in profile like, About Me , Date of Birth. etc. ( a vBulletin or osdate type of profile )

Feedback & Suggestions / Modding 4images need to change format
« on: May 12, 2006, 01:22:15 AM »

To Jan and the other developers of 4images

the format of modding 4images need to be changed to a plug-in type system, like vbulletin 3.5.x
and  mods should be controlled from the admin control panel
Admin/Owner should be able to turn on and turn off a MOD from the site without having to edit 10 PHP files with over 30 edits

Currently: to add a mod to 4images one has to edit maybe 5 files, 30 locations in those files, he has to add and remove batch of codes.
If he addes 4 mods after this and later wishes to remove the first mod, its practically impossible as he has to go back and  find all the codes he changed, which may have also changed when he added mod number 3 .

If one wants to add 10 mods from the modification forums, he has to spend maybe 10 hours or more, thats not impossible, but is ridiculous .

Mods/Hacks should ALL be controlled from the Admin Control Panel,
he can turn on, turn off, change settings, functions, options. etc..

Is there a way to make the code of Add Category work not only for admins but also for registered members? what i want is to have next to the upload icon the add category icon as well.

Thanx in advance.

well maybe another coder can make this hack besides the original author ?

features request
A: Usergroup based
/ in admin control panel administrator decides
1: usergroup is allowed to create albums ( YES | NO )
2: how many albums user can create  ( 1, 2, 5, 10, 20 )
3: how many pictures per album can user upload ( 2, 5, 10, 50 )
4: usergroup is allowed to password protect each album ( YES | NO )
5: Admin can disable album for individual-user without blocking other members in that usergroup
