I want to hide comments when users look the images, because for some pics I have 100-300 comments and I think this make a lot of connections to my MySQL database and make my host slow (what do you think ?).

Is it possible to make some link to the comments after the picture? I think 60% of my users don't read the comments and it will be good if I can save some resources of my server. Only users who want to see the comments will activate them or open in new window.
