Title: [PROGRAM] 4images Mobile Server
Post by: † manurom on August 11, 2007, 01:33:38 AM
Hello;

the new version can be found here:
http://www.4homepages.de/forum/index.php?topic=29025.0

--------------

I have been working with the 4images team for a while.
We have setup a program to run a Standalone Web Server, including 4images. All agreements obtained.
It is designed to let people show their work on 4images anywhere a Windows PC is, without needing a connection to the Internet.
Its first use is in an USB Flash Drive, but it can be used in a fixed hard disk too.

It is called 4images Mobile Server.
Features:

It runs on Windows based PCs a local webserver running 4images.
When the program is launched, it appears an icon in the systray:

As displayed, it is provided with 4 languages for the management interface: german, english, spanish and french (many thanks to kai for the german translation).

__________ 4images Mobile Server is provided in a ZIP archive. Just download it and unpack the whole archive at the root of an USB Flash Drive.
Once the files have been unpacked, the USB Flash Drive becomes autorun able. It has a new icon in "My Computer":
Just let your computer launch the autorun program. The webserver will be started, and your default browser will show the first installation page of 4images. At this point, you just have to choose your language and begin the installation. Nothing more is required.
Accounts and passwords are yet configured:
                   4images: admin login: admin
                                admin password: admin
                   MySQL:  account: root
                                account password: root

__________ There is also an installer version that installs the program on the computer, by default in c:\4images Mobile Server\, setting up a new group in the programs menu and a new icon on the desktop.
Once you have done all the work you need, simply copy the 4images Mobile Server folder content to an USB Flash Drive. Simply by plugging it to another computer, you will run your site without any installation routine.
( You may have usual paranoid messages from MS Security Center about Apache and MySQL, and perhaps in Internet Explorer on the first loading screen. MS Windows users won't there be surprised...)

__________ Download it form here: .zip (http://www.4homepages.de/4images_Mobile_Server_1.1.zip)

Have a look, and try it.

Hi mawenzi, and many thanks for your help proposition.
About your problems, what please is your operating Windows system (and which service pack)?
Please don't answer you're still using MS Internet Explorer browser as default browser, or else you might have to adjust security settings for this boring IE to allow for redirect ( the first page is a local page that calls the virtual sever homepage using http refresh).
Have you got any other firewall installed, like Kerio or ZoneAlarm?
(I do not know, but has the program been launched twice?)
Did you try on another computer and met the same problem?
I will download both the installation and zip program and try both into a few computers to try to reproduce your problem, allthough I have already done this many and many times before getting them online (XP Home, Pro, with or without SP2, Windows 2000).
Please let me know.

If you agree to help in German traduction, and by the way 4images is originally a german software, please let me know where I can send you my Word doc to have it translated (PM, as natural).
Many thanks in advance.

I am yet working on a next version with such features:
    - phpMyAdmin 2.10.1
    - MySQL 5.0.41
    - Apache 2.0.59
    - PHP & PHP Extensions 5.2.3 (working on a downgrade to PHP 4.x.x for users waiting for PHP 5.x.x upgrade)
    - ActivePerl 5.8.8.820
    - phpMyBackupPro 2.1 (not completely integrated)

Many thanks here to those who have downloaded the software and tested it.
Please share here your experience.
Regards.

Many tests done on several configs (OS, Antivirus, Firewall, Default Browser).

I found a few bugs with some redirection and packed scripts.

Changed structure, with no more redirection scripts and unpacked the other scripts.

After that, all tests were OK on every computer .

ZIP and Installable versions updated today on my website. Youn can now download and delete the old version.

Many thanks for your feed-back, mawenzi :D.

4imagesMS and function exif_read_data

... PHP has this own function (exif_read_data) since version 4.2.0, which can read the EXIF header data from JPEG/TIFF image files ...
... and it is a very important function for information of the images, or to generate Exif-Google-Maps a.s.o. ...
... 4imagesMS runs with PHP Version 4.3.11 ... but no function exif_read_data exist ...
Quote
Fatal error: Call to undefined function: exif_read_data()
... is there any way to insert or to activate this function for 4imagesMS ... ?

... to hide the error, I use this in my functions.php ...
Code: [Select]
if ((($file_extension == "jpg") || ($file_extension == "jpeg")) &&($detailed_view) && function_exists('exif_read_data')) {
       $exif = exif_read_data ($media_src_exif,'IFD0');
... but in this way no EXIF-Infos are shown on details ...

Edit :

I found a solution ...  8)
- find in /usr/local/php/php.ini
Code: [Select]
;extension=php_exif.dll
- and replace by
Code: [Select]
extension=php_mbstring.dll
extension=php_exif.dll
- find in /usr/local/php/php.ini
Code: [Select]
extension=php_mbstring.dll
- and replace by
Code: [Select]
;extension=php_mbstring.dll

( php_exif.dll : This extension requires that you load php_mbstring.dll BEFORE it. So move the line: extension=php_mbstring.dll ABOVE the extension=php_exif.dll line. http://www.corephp.co.uk/archives/36-A-Guide-to-using-PHP-5-Extensions-on-Windows.html )

- and now we need the right (for php4.3.11) php_exif.dll ...
- I found a download of php_exif.dll here (http://kromann.info/php4-Release_TS/php_exif.dll) ...
- save a copy of php_exif.dll for your 4imagesMS in /usr/local/php/extensions ...
- so ... all things are done ...
- now Exif-Infos are shown on details and so 4imagesMS works perfect for me ...

thanks again manurom

That seams to be a great solution, but i have a problem with the thumbnails.
They were not made automatically.

Is the GD Bibliothek or Image Magick necessary, and if so, how to install on the stick
Title: Re: [PROGRAM] 4images Mobile Server

Hello, all of you;
@mawenzi, how could I thank you?
Your feedback is really a great help for me. Many, many thanks for posting your experience.

@herb:
GD library is selected by default, but not automatically thumbnail generation. Go to 4images ACP and activate it.
But if you need a package with such features, I can make it for you. Just ask, or say it would be a default feature ( I cannot say what other users prefer...).

Best regards, and one more time, many thanks for your feedbacks.

I keep on workin' on it.

very sorry, but I am at the hospital for a while.
My sites are both out, for now.
A nurse lent me her computer and I uploaded my sources from my USB key here:
Installable version (http://www.ami07.info/programs/4images_ms.exe)
Zip version (http://www.ami07.info/programs/4images_ms.zip)
My brother will try tomorrow on his Vista computer.

I apologize.

Best regards. Keep on supporting 4images!

Hallo

also, normalerweise ne galerie fürs Internet,
XAMP, IIS, WAMP

nobby

Well, 4images Mobile Server was intended to be a WAMP environment ( Windows, Apache, MySQL and Php). The package should offer a standalone webserver including a pre-installed version of the last 4images script.
We first thought about people who needed to have a mobile version of their work in an USB key or a CD-ROM.

If you use the executable version, have a second hard drive called D:, and desire to have your own testing site there, I will look how we can setup aliases to have your testing sites in another drive.

4images Mobile Server is not EasyPHP. I made it to be as mobile as it could, thanks to USB devices. The installable version helps you to manage your site in your computer without having to plug any USB device. Once done, you will have to copy the directory on an USB key, and then be able to show it in any computer having an USB connector and running on MS Windows.

Sorry if my post is not clear enough. Feel free to contact me by PM if you need custom help. I will always answer.
Anybody is welcome!

Hi, and soooo sorry!
Go to "the_path_to_4images_Mobile_Server/server/" directory, and delete the file called 'fr.txt". Everything will return to default. I bite my fingers...

After kai's PM, 4images Mobile Server ZIP version has been upgraded to 4images version 1.7.6 (but not the splash screen).
The installable version will be upgraded tomorrow.

Hey, nobby, many thanks! PM me anything you think that should be better. I listen, read and answer every opinion.

oh wow! this is such a great idea, not only for showing off your work without need the internet, but also its a time saver for any kind of developing.
It works fine, however I have one issue to report and a question:
when starting 4images_ms.exe it plays some sound AND changes system sound volume settings to 50%. This is a "no-no" for a portable application to change ANY settings in the system especially without restoring them after it closed.

is it necessary create virtual drive?

And final thought: since apache and mysql can be configured to run on different ports, I think it won't be too difficult do a simple check at startup if the ports are in use. If they are in use, prompt user select different ports.

P.S.
Just noticed, the program doesn't exit properly it leaves tray icon, like its dies  :?

What a great idea! I had been thinking about getting mySQL, php and Apache installed locally to be able to mess about with 4images without having to test things out on my live site. So this all-in-one package is absolutely the ticket!

I run vista. And like mentioned a couple of times before (by others), I get an error message from Vista (program crashed... investigating causes... cannot find a reason). However, after I click "cancel" to the error message, the 4images icon appears in my status bar and it seems I can run it from there. I just wonder which bits are not running as a result of the crash.

After copying my copies of the modded code and re-creating modded tables, it just seems to work. Wonderful!!! Thank you so much! :) :) :)

Oh, and as V@no says, why hijacking drive W?  I had a network drive mapped to W but had to disable that :(
Title: Re: [PROGRAM] 4images Mobile Server
Post by: † manurom on July 10, 2008, 08:38:28 PM
I run vista.
What a pity!
Well, if you use a mapped network drive called w, you may change its letter, or else, edit the file server/start.bat, and change:
Code: [Select]
IF "%Disk%"=="" set Disk=wfor any letter you need to use.

Don't forget then to change in server/stop.bat:
Code: [Select]
subst w: /Dto fit with your own letter.

@V@no;
first: GREAT TO SEE YOU BACK HERE, MAN!
thanks for your experience.

About the "nono" sound, I will make the computer's sound return to 100% after the splash screen appears , or even delete any sound.

About the problem with some software as Skype, GoogleToolbarNotyfier... and more that start with Windows and listen to the port #80, we will add a feature to 4images Mobile Server to change the port that has to be listened (e.g: change to 8080). The MySQL port (3306), seems not to be affected by such programs.
In fact, we could change the native port to be 8080, for instance. Let us some times to try and furnish a good alternative.

Why use a virtual drive? 4images Mobile Server is based on Uniform Server 3.5 Apollo, and you can learn here why it uses a virtual disk: http://center.uniformserver.com/uniserver/uniserver_intro.html (http://center.uniformserver.com/uniserver/uniserver_intro.html)

Quote
Just noticed, the program doesn't exit properly it leaves tray icon, like its dies
4images Mobile Server uses Aestan Tray Menu (http://www.xs4all.nl/~broekroo/aetraymenu/), that is no more maintained since july 2004. The tray icon keeping on after closing is a known bug.
We try to get a more recent free application, working with people at Framasoft, and trying to adapt it to 4images Mobile Server.

Well, 4images Mobile Server has been downloaded more than 2500 times since I posted first. People know that any support could be given at contact@ami07.info.
Since the beginning, we never had any message about any unsolvable problem. In fact, we never had too any message to thank us...

Thanks to mawenzi for his support about EXIF features.

I will post as soon as the changes are made.

Thank you very much, SunnyUK and V@no.

Post by: SunnyUK on July 12, 2008, 01:27:46 PM
I'm not sure if this has anything to do with Mobile Server or if it's an error in core 4images. But here goes...

When I

1) copy a new image to \data\media\3
2) run checkimages in order to import the image

I get this error message from checkimages

Warning: rename(./../data/media/3/DSC_1187.JPG,./../data/media/3/DSC_1187.JPG.bak) [function.rename]: File exists in W:\www\4images\includes\image_utils.php on line 180

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 3872 bytes) in W:\www\4images\includes\image_utils.php on line 80

After this, I can not import images using checkimages.

The way I read it, there is a memory leak and a 32Mb area which have been exhausted. The only way I can make things work again is to reboot my machine.

Now I can live with rebooting my local PC every now and then during development (even if it's a bit inconvenient), but if this error is NOT caused by 4mobile, then it must be a leak in the core 4images, meaning that my server (I'm on a shared hosted plan) will also eventually encounter it. I suspect that my hosting supplier isn't going to be thrilled if I cause stability problems for the server.

Any ideas? Clues?

I'm using the PHP-5 version of 4Mobile. What other information should I provide?

Right, my mistake for not understanding the error message. But rather than delete the cry for help, let me post the solution here so that if anyone else encounters the same problem they know what to do...

The images that 4images couldn't import were all very large (straight from camera without any re-sizing). This caused the script to use more memory than had been allocated to PHP. So by going into the PHP ini file and increase the amount of memory from 32 Mb to 64 Mb, the error went away:

1) right click on the 4images mobile icon in the task bar
2) select advanced / php configuration. This will open the php.ini file in edit mode
3) search for memory_limit = 32M (in a section called resource limits)
4) change the 32M to 64M and save the ini file
5) shut down mobile server and restart

If you are nervous about undertaking this without having a backup, the ini file is placed in a directory under 4mobile called server\diskw\usr\local\php - so it might be an idea to make a backup copy of the file before editing it. And actually if you bother making a backup, you might as well edit it directly while you're in the right directory.

About the "nono" sound, I will make the computer's sound return to 100% after the splash screen appears , or even delete any sound.

That actually was my point. No software should ever change any OS settings without asking for user permission or at least without letting user know about the changes (IMHO). In this particular case changing sound volume is absolutely not necessary, and I bet its not required by the module/command you use to play the sound ;)

Anyway, I little request if I may, an option to restart the server would be handy.

P.S.
There are two UniTray.exe in the package, is it necessary?

Kannst also loslegen.

I just tried to install Mobile Server (1.7.6) but get an error message: "w:\home\admin\WWW\redirect.html couldn't be found".  Mobile Server tries to install Drive "W", but fails. In Windows Explorer the "W" drive is shown, but it's empty and it is signed with a red questionmark and in the Disk Management Drive "W" doesn't appear at all, so it seems drive "W" can't be mounted.

I use Win XP Prof. SP3. Win XP firewall is deactivated. I also deactivated Kaspersky but without any success. I also tried to change the letters of the drive in the start.bat and the stop.bat, but it's the same effect. I guess any f***ing tool or Win XP update blocks the mounting of another drive? Got anybody an idea?

Hello and welcome to 4images forum.

Your antivirus software reported a false-positive. There is no viruses neither in .exe nor in package itself. (http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/cefaf07a1dbbf0c636935ff545552535)
The .exe file is packed with UPX compression, which in many cases can produce false-positive in some antivirus programs (avast one of the worst when it comes to UPX, btw)

Can't argue with that, however in case of Avast, its more like: "I have no idea if there is a virus, it doesn't look like there is a virus, but anyway I should warn the user...hmmm...what name should I pick for that non-virus virus?..."
In my experience with Avast I found that it misses as many threats as many false-positives it produces, but you can't really expect much from a free software nowadays :(

This little program has saved my hide many times and makes troubleshooting sites so much easier. Thank you for all your efforts.

I was wondering if on the next build, how hard would it be to add netpbm and imagemagic to the build?

I am currently creating a mod that is working with the GD library but would also like to make it work with the other 2 in case anyone is using them but I have tried over and over to get them to work with my installed mobile server to no success.
I have done all the searching and everyone says put them in their own folder in the root of the gallery and give it the path to that folder in the settings, I have tried all path combinations that I can think of but can not get either of them to start working.

It would be nice to have them from the start...

just a thought...

Install it in:

then in 4images use this path for IM:
/usr/local/ImageMagick/convert.exe

@V@no,
You saved me again, nobody ever said to install it in the usr/local folder,
both of them are working just fine now, thanks!

FYI: V@no's instructions for imagemagick is correct and works fine.

for netpbm install it into
X:\path to your mobile server root\diskw\usr\local\netpbm\

then in 4images use this path for netpbm:
/usr/local/netpbm/bin

thanks guys!

Hallo,

Did you try redownload the package and see if it works when fresh?

4images_ms.exe is injection win32 worms..
there is no worms in this software.
4images_ms.exe is UPX (http://upx.sourceforge.net/) compressed, and many antivirus software can't handle properly such compression and throwing false positive warnings (I even heard is that because most malware is using that compression, so any legit software automatically get into that category too).

You can see the difference in how many false-positive antivirus programs report and file sizes between original 4images_ms.exe (http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/7a4feca8315c5fb1c27b087c0b51da7197a784a7adecada44668af9f03f7b723-1262803415) (674,092 bytes) and unpacked (http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/fd3345826ec0dc2c3c350183abc689a037e51b1757347a31597866f176721ee7-1264082453) (no UPX compression, 1,416,492 bytes)

I've attached unpacked (used upx.exe -d 4images_ms.exe) version, see if your antivirus still confused.

P.S.
Personally I lost any faith in Avast antivirus after it started giving me a hard time regarding a javascript I was writing...it's one of the most false-positive antiviruses I know of...

Sorry for the delay, I was too busy during the last days ...

Yes, I'm running 4ms as Administrator.
I'm using XP Professional SP2, Version 2002.
Yes, I tried to start a complete fresh package - no succes. And it doesn't matter what drive letter I use in all the batch-files, its allways busy.

This seems to me as a Windows-Problem, allthough I really don't know, what changes are done in my system during the 4 or 5 weeks since 4ms worked properly last time. I didn't install ANY software and don't know about any Microsoft auto-update.

Indeed I had an error message in the system log (some dll-problem), still reported since my last successfull start of 4ms. Updating to SP3 solved this Problem - unfortunately not the problem with 4ms. The busy-drive-message still remains and localhost is not reanimated.

I think I switch to XAMPP, hoping that this will work.

I think I switch to XAMPP, hoping that this will work.

... so on your PC runs XAMPP ...  a instance of Apache and MySQL ... !
... first deactivate via "XAMPP - Program Service Monitor" (or in any other way) the webserver and database of XAMPP on your PC ...
... only after that you can start a successful "4imagesMS - Installation" ...

Sorry, perhabs I was unclear. XAMPP is not running actual, I will give it a trial. I definitely can't see any webserver or databaseserver running on my local machine, I checked it several times.

Well, XAMPP and 4images are running together on my local machine and I can go back to develop ...
So goodbye 4images Mobile Server! We had pretty good times and I really don't know why you left me or what I did wrong. But as we say in germany: "Lass'n zischen, kriegst 'nen frischen!"

Thank you all for your suggestions!

Well, I gave the exact message in my initial post http://www.4homepages.de/forum/index.php?topic=18352.msg144661#msg144661 (http://www.4homepages.de/forum/index.php?topic=18352.msg144661#msg144661).
But after all I'm pretty sure, that this is a very special and unusual problem occuring just on my local machine and related to my system. I'm running my local installation of 4images under xampp now, so for me there is no neccessarity to search for this very special reason why 4images mobile server suddenly doesn't run any more.
Thanks again for your kind help.

the variable mentioned in that post located in registry:
Code: [Select]
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersionIf you don't have it there, then create a new "string" with name SystemRoot, double click on it and enter value: C:\WINDOWS (assuming your windows is installed on C:\ drive)

The variable "SystemRoot" with value "C:\WINDOWS" (wich is correct) already exists, alas.

Need help from people that work with servers allot...
I have both 4imagesms programs on my local computer. PHPv4 and PHPv5...
I have setup a dynamicdns domain to hit my computer from the internet.
When I am running the PHPv4 version of the mobile server, I can connect from the internet without any problems.
When I am running the PHPv5 version of the mobile server, I get error messages saying I am forbidden from accessing the server.

I am assuming something needs to be changed in the config file for apache but I can not figure out what. I have tried to rem out everything on the V5 side to match the V4 side but it still did not work.
I have attached a zip file if anyone can lead me down the right road...

The reason I am wanting this is because the facebook connectors have to connect to a domain (localmachine no good) and from what I see all the facebook connectors use PHPv5 coding :(
My way around it right now is I setup a free website account and working through it but it is a pain to download/upload/test any changes I make. local computer faster and easier...

Thanks for any help anyone can give me...

Exact error message please.
(from server's logs)

P.S.
Also, are you running/trying to setup this "4images Mobile Server" or something else?

the error log looks like this under the V5 server
Quote
[Sat May 01 15:58:17 2010] [error] [client 174.101.181.237] client denied by server configuration: W:/www/

It is a fresh install of 4images mobile server at the moment. Just trying to get it to be accessed from outside my firewall.
The PHP ver4 of the mobileserver allows the webpages to come up without any problems...
but the PHP ver5 of the mobile server give the above error in the log and the webpage says, access is denied...

Thanks for your help!

EDIT:
This is what is displays in the browser...

Quote
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apache/2.0.59 (Win32) DAV/2 PHP/5.2.3 Server at budduke.homeip.net Port 80

I even tried adding the 4images directory to the browser like I do for the localhost...

Well, since your PHP4 configuration works, why not use it for PHP5, just replace
Code: [Select]
      LoadModule php4_module "/usr/local/php/php4apache2.dll"

with:
Code: [Select]
   LoadModule php5_module "/usr/local/php/php5apache2.dll"
   PHPIniDir "/usr/local/php/"
