Discussion & Troubleshooting / PHP 5.5 Add and Edit Images Problem
« on: September 03, 2015, 08:39:19 AM »
After years of using 4Images without any problems I recently struck a snag when my ISP (Powweb) upgraded to PHP 5.5. Since then I have been unable to upload or edit images from the Admin page. All other aspects of the Admin page seem to work properly (thumbnails, add and edit categories, etc) but attempting to upload an image results in a 500 error that says there's been an internal server error but gives no clues as to what it might be.

I have tried reverting back to earlier versions of PHP but get a similar result. With PHP 5.2 and below there's no 500 error message but nothing happens. The end result is the same - no upload.

I have also tried editing php.ini but with no success. Any ideas, anyone?

Thanks,
Geoff Bryant

Discussion & Troubleshooting / Re: Out of Memory Error with Lightbox

I've now managed to resolve this. There was a problem with the database that was upsetting the sessions information and since fixing that and tweaking php.ini all seems well.

Discussion & Troubleshooting / Out of Memory Error with Lightbox
« on: January 09, 2010, 03:37:45 AM »
Recently I've had a problem with lghtbox pages not loading. Instead I get an out of memory error message. The add to and take off lightbox buttons still work normally but click on the view lightbox button and the error message below comes up.

"Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 10485760 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 160783 bytes) in /hermes/web05b/b1133/pow.geoffbryant/htdocs/includes/template.php on line 185"

None of the files have been changed recently to make this happen. However, my database now contains around 19000 images in 1400 categories and I'm wondering if it is getting too large and becoming an unwieldy memory hog. This may also be the reason why I get an out of memory message if I set the search results page to show more than 25 images. Any ideas?

I wondered about the possibility that my web host had updated MySQL and that was perhaps causing problems. I tried using some files from the latest version of 4images to see if that fixed the problem. I was then able to get the lightbox to load but there were no images. Regrettably, my copy of 4images, now has so many mods and add-ons that it's difficult to upgrade. It's basically an amalgam of 1.7.2 and 1.7.4. Anyhow, it's worked fine until now.

Thanks,
Geoff Bryant

I know this topic has been covered before in threads such as http://www.4homepages.de/forum/index.php?topic=10184.0 but the discussion seemed to fade out without coming to a definitive conclusion.

I am having trouble using this version of MySQL with 4images 1.7.1. Everything works except that I cannot upload or edit images from the admin control panel. I have made all of the changes suggested in the thread mentioned above but still no luck.

I know 1.7.4 may offer a solution but I can't really upgrade because of all the mods I've made.

I have posted a similar message in the other thread but as the last post there was in October 2007 I thought it may be better to start something new.

Discussion & Troubleshooting / Re: query problems with MySQL 5.0.x

I've made all of the changes suggested in this thread and everything works except that I cannot upload or edit images from the admin control panel. I'm using 4images 1.7.1 with MySQL 5.2.5.

I know 1.7.4 may offer a solution but I can't really upgrade because of all the mods I've made.

Any ideas?

It appears to be problem with using 4images 1.7.1 with php5.2.5. I have seen some other queries on thsi topic but no defintive answer that was apparent to me. I think I'll start a new trhead on this topic with php 5.5.5 in the header and see if anyone responds.

Yes, all permissions are enabled. The host's support staff are looking at but as it's already been shifted around between three techies I'm not especially optimistic of success.

Installation, Update & Configuration / Problems with changing web host
« on: January 11, 2008, 09:10:43 PM »
I am in the process of changing web hosts. I have copied all of my 4images files to the new host who has transferred my database. Everything is now working perfectly except that I can't edit or add images from the admin control panel. I can edit or add categories without any problems but clicking on add images or edit images just results in a blank window - no error message.

I have installed many mods over the years - so many that I really can't upgrade from 1.7.1. I use the batch copy/move/edit mod but regardless of which version of admin/image.php I install, even the original one from 1.7.1, I cannot get add images or edit images to work. Adding images directly from the MySQL/PHP database control panel is possible but is a bit tedious compared to using the 4 images ACP. Any ideas on a fix, anyone?

Discussion & Troubleshooting / Re: details.php problem
« on: November 23, 2006, 08:05:53 PM »
The only change I have made recently is to implement the search engine friendly URL mod found at http://www.4homepages.de/forum/index.php?topic=6729.0
Are there any known problems with this or have I found one? It seems unlikely as I've had it running fro a couple of weeks without problems, but I need to find somewhere to start looking.

Discussion & Troubleshooting / details.php problem
« on: November 23, 2006, 09:20:45 AM »
I'm using 1.7.1 (fairly extensively modified) to run my website www.cfgphoto.com on PowWeb. I've been using 4images for this site for around 3 years and haven't really had any problems. I also haven't made any changes in the last few days, but today I received this message from PowWeb support.

"The script: /home/users/web/b1133/pow.geoffbryant/htdocs/details.php has turned berserk. There are tons of them running perhaps calling itself. We have disabled your CGI, unless you correct your script we cannot enable it."

Now, as I haven't made any changes do any of you have any clues about what might cause this problem? Could it have been malicious interference? I long ago removed uploads, registration, postcards, etc to minimise the vulnerabilities, but maybe that wasn't enough.

I have replaced the files that could possibly be the cause of the problem with clean ones from my backup and have asked PowWeb to reinstate CGI to see if all is now well. So far nothing has happened but I'm hoping this was just some kind of inexplicable blip and it will all be fine in a few hours - maybe.

Any ideas? Thanks.

I find that many visitors get turned off by having to register and I've modified my site so that the registration process has been removed. Visitors can just use the lightbox without having to register but I can't get this mod, which I'd really like to have, to work properly when I try to remove its call to the lightbox registration notice.

Can anyone solve this problem and perhaps post a revised version of this lightbox email mod that covers all the tweaks mentioned in the 7 pages of posts so far? Having not come in at the start of the thread it can be difficult to follow up on the evolution of the code.

Thanks

That's a very simple mod that works well for me except for one thing. I have both horizontally and vertically oriented images in my categories. Is there a way that I can get the random images both resized and correctly proportioned rather than being stretched or squeezed in one direction. Thanks

Mods & Plugins (Requests & Discussions) / Re: Email with image name

Thanks, I haven't the time to try to implement it right now but that seems pretty close to what I'm looking for.

Mods & Plugins (Requests & Discussions) / Email with image name
« on: May 08, 2005, 12:03:26 PM »
Here's a mod that I'd really like to have available.

I use 4images for a simple photo library site (cfgphoto.com) and I'd just like a basic email system that operates from the details page so that viewers can request image usage quotes. The image name would automatically appear in the subject line or as a title and there would be fields for the sender's name and email address. The mail would always be going to the same address so the recipient email address could be hidden. It would also need to have a message field to record the usage details. There would be no need to actually include the image, though if the thumbnail could be sent with the post that would lessen any confusion over image ID. No changeable fonts, background colours, etc. required.

I've been working on the postcards files and have been able to achieve something like waht I'd want but it's a rather cumbersome way of doing it, especially as the message is stored in the database rather than being sent directly. I can also do it by inserting standard HTML email links in the image caption, but that means a load of unecessary and repetitive information cluttering up my image database.

If anyone could help it would be appreciated, but it's really just something on my wish list.
