what's the difference between voting and rating
« on: October 09, 2008, 09:54:31 PM »
Hi everyone,
I am going nuts...probably over a very dumb question

My dilemma:

The page "top images" (top.php) contains sections:
--Top 10 images by rating
--Top 10 images by votes

I know how people can rate images (1/5)....so that's clear to me....

But what's votes??
I don't see an voting option for users or something like that..
How and where are images voted for??

Any help is appreciated,
thanx in advance!

It has been answered before but I will repeat it because I thought the same thing when I first looked at it.
You are correct, Rating is the scale of 1-5 for that image.
Votes is the total # of votes that image received.
example, 6 people voted for image and it averaged out to a rating of 3.
ratings for this image is 3.
votes for this image is 6 because 6 people voted for it.

not a dumb question at all, it had me stumped till I read it.
