Title: categories in home page

Hi ,  I would like create a home page like this site xxx: xxx: thatnitexxx: /4images/
but I would like the images to link to the categories
is it possible? thank you for help

yes , I know ... but I want recreate the grafic style of this site

in this site there is the images of category with  the description over the image
