Bug. about gif uploads
« on: September 20, 2002, 05:37:08 PM »
I can't upload gif images, it says : error undefined function imagecreate from gif().........

note that i can upload other extensions like jpg and it make thumbnails successfully, the problem is only with gif.

I heard that newer versions of php doesn't support gif for copyright issues.... maybe this is the problem?

Hi mher,

if you check in your control panel under settings...

look for the images settings and go to the values for
Valid file extensions

you can choose what can and cant be uploaded by a user from there...

its a shame about GD not supporting gif files...

but I think it might be a good idea if AOL/CompuServe plan to introduce licensing laws against using their format.

OT:
the owners of JPEG are at it also...
is there nothing 'free' in this world anymore  :(
