How to disable photo uploads for users?

Since today I have been playing around with 4Images and so far I got everything working on my local PC.

What I was searching for was a gallery script that, amongst other things, allows visitors to comment on photos and 4Images seems to be a very professional script that allows this.

The problem now is that I as administrator only want to be able to upload photos and let the visitors only register and comment on the photos (perhaps even without registering).

On the settings page I have set the Upload mode to "No file upload" but when I log in as a user I still seem to be able to upload a photo. Is this perhaps a known bug or am I just looking in the wrong direction?

Can anyone tell me what the best way is to achieve the functionality I mentioned above or if it is even possible with the latest version?

in Admin control panel, under "edit categories" set upload permission to adminstrator

Ah so that's where the settings are. And it answers my posting comments without being registered too. Thanks!

But there seems to be something missing. At least in my admin-menu, I can not define different usergroups with different functionalities i.e.

usergroup 1: Only viewing pictures, no comments, no ratings, no uploads etc.
usergroup2: viewing& uploading pictures, comments, ratings
usergroup 3: all of the above plus downloading
usergroup 4: all of the above plus bigger upload-filezise/amount of images per week etc.

this only will work if u set categories settings to "PRIVATE" otherwice there is no way u can set sertain user/group
