What makes 4image a better choice?
« on: October 07, 2008, 10:06:35 PM »
I'm a new user looking for some general information. I am the admin for a club website. Our members ride motorbikes on backroads and in the woods. We are actually nice people.

Right now we have a basic php forum www.odsc.on.ca and I am looking to add a photo gallery. Our web host offers "4images" as part of their choices, so it should be easy to install.

I need something that is simple to manage. Integration into the phpbb forum might be needed as I must control who gets to upload their pictures. My preference is for only actual club members to be able to upload. I may also need to control who has access to the gallery.

Can someone please point me to some similar galleries so I can see what a typical gallery will look like? Does "4image" handle video content? Any suggestions are welcome.

Thank you,
That is quite a list of features!

It looks like it runs totally separate of phpbb. Does that mean all my users would have to also register on the photo gallery software too?

4images phpBB has nothing to do.

Yes, registration through the gallery.

You look around at the users, there are some viewing galleries.

edit:
4images is one of the best photo galleries there.
4images is expandable through modifications or plugins
4images help in the forum here is unprecedented (users help users)
4images completely written in PHP, so Adaptable

Welcome to 4images forum.

We have two different mods to integrate 4images with phpBB and phpBB v3.

Your first three "must do" before you ask a question:
Please do not PM me asking for help unless you've been specifically asked to do so. Such PMs will be deleted without answer. (forum rule #6)
