*** whats the difference between upload and direct upload ****

I have user category with the permissions to upload and direct upload. So whats the difference, i know that direct upload you dont need to wait for validation but then i also have upload checked is well? so im confused isnt this a problem to have upload and direct upload in the same place.

Direct upload permission is an addition to upload permission. If a visitor has no permission to upload they automatically have no permission direct upload either.

So in my permissions on user groups if i have upload checked and direct upload checked, If the user uploads the image they dont have to wait for validation??

BUT

If the direct upload is not chcked but then the upload checkbox is checked on permissions, then the user must wait for administrator validation??
