[Request] Ability to approve/decline/edit comments
« on: May 29, 2003, 02:38:50 AM »
Hello All,
Not sure how hard this would be, but could anybody code a mod so that we can approve/decline/edit comments, much like uploads?
Thanks

u can always turn off users edit/delete their comments...
Your first three "must do" before you ask a question:
Please do not PM me asking for help unless you've been specifically asked to do so. Such PMs will be deleted without answer. (forum rule #6)

Thanks for the fast response.
To clarify:
When a user adds a comment to a picture, I (as the Administrator) want to be able to look at it and approve it or edit it before it gets posted.

Does that help clarifty?

Thanks

:D
Sorry, was just wondering if it was possible, and any of you mad-crazy-go-nuts coders could pull it off.
Well, maybe this post will hang out in the requests forum for a while and on day be fulfilled....ahh, we can all dream

Edit: Also, in "theory", this isn't too hard...modify it so that each comment has an extra field, "approved", if approved = 1, print, else, no.
Then for admin, just grab one (or multiple) comments with approved = 0, and dump the contents into a textarea for easy editing, then simply have a submit/decline button that updates the row and changes approved to 1.
Like I said, fairly easy in concept

Did you already tried it yourself to code it?

I would love to have this too.
Or *at least* a mod that would email an admin (not just the uploader) that a comment was made. That way I can go in a delete ones I don't approve of.

i would love to have this option too in my gallery.. since i have a gallery for a celebrity, fans of the rival celebrity come and post s**t in my comments and since i dont get any notification of the sort, it remains there and people complain abt the bad language used in the comments!

This is exactly what I have been searching the forum for.

The problem I encountered was a spammer making comments on all my images. It was a few hours before I realized it.

It would be great if I could go to the admin panel, and have an option to approve or deny comments. They would not actually show on the detail page of the image until they had been approved by the admin.

Along the same line, When I deleted the user that had done the spamming and selected the option to delete the comments he/she made, it did delete the comments but, when you look at the thumbnail of the image on the home page, it still shows comments (1).

Forgive me if there is an answer to this somewhere in the forum. I purchased the licensed version of 4images and absolutely love it but, I can't read german. Usually when I find what I think may be the answer, it is in german.  :D

Open another window and use : http://translate.google.com/translate_t
Select the German to English in the drop down and it will help clarify the postings better
