Hi!!

Im was thinking in how to integrate a news latter to 4images, but when I installed a newsletter script I have a good Idea to do much easier, than copy the mail to another database, check

how If make a form that the users add therir mail for only recieve newsletter, that email keep it in the database, and when you go to your ACP Panel, in the section of send email, you can choose, mail for: gallery users and newsletter users to send the email

what do you think?!?!

yes i would like to a newsletter system - but it must be smart!
i would like a newsletter system which sends lightbox with up to 20 picture but the picture must be smart filled in like the need of the customer!

i have idees in my head - but have to wirte them down

I really need it , but in programming shahhh am nothin'
I just need it to make it easy for visitors to post their email and the get the news letter from the site admin every once and while

well, there is a multitude of scripts which we can adapt to 4images code...
but the users have different needs it would be necessary to know exactly what the users want before choosing a basic script.
I say that because the solutions of newsletters are really different and it would be a shame to choose a

bad script

at the beginning...

I propose that the people who are interested leave here their requests and me (or somebody else

) will be able to start to build a solution.

Hey, that's a great offer. I'd like to have a newsletter-system as well. Every user (registered or not) should be able to join it by a simple form (Name, email). Newsletters could be sent via email or via 4images' control panel.

we will start to specify here the requests concerning the newsletter:

users can easily add/remove their mail ( yes it can be useful)
admin can add (single or list of) new addresses
admin can add text/comment (preferably with BBcode)
users can choose html or txt newsletter
admin can join (xx last or lightbox or top) pictures
admin can join the xx last comments (or why not some stats?)
users will be able to consult old the newsletters
it should be smart

First : you can continue to give ideas and I will add them with the list

Second : it will be necessary to classify these requests by priority, from the most significant toward the least significant.

I await your comments.

* Admin should be able to add bulk new addresses.
* Script should be able to detect whether or not a sent newsletter to a person, bounces.

there should be a possibility that somebody registerd for the newsletter also could mark which categorie he would get a information as soon as new picture are out (or maybe weekly)

I think the idea is great but there may be problems that 4images has no control over. Your host my limit your ability to send mail (my host limits me to 49 sent mail at a time). SMTP would be the real solution to this, but most hosts won't implement smtp capability because of secruity reasons. I'm not sure if this is possible, but being able to configue 4images to use your internet provider smtp verus using the host smtp may be a solution.

anyways, the email function of 4images has been something that has been a problem since I have owned 4images and it has been written about several times. To accomplish such a feat would require a programmer whose abilities are above the average programmer because there has not been a solution to this problem for quite sometime (over a year I have seen this request). Yet, it is obvious that everyone would want a newsletter capability so it is not because the experts here are not aware of your wants, it is a matter of solving multiple problems that may be beyond the capability of 4images without redesigning the whole code.
