HELP !!! Search Does not Find Current images

hey all -

a rather strange problem - i am having problems with the search feature finding any files that have been added to the database after making several modifications -

i have replaced the mod'ed files with the originals, rebuilt the index, file checked .. and anything else i could think of to reset the the problem ...

something corrupted the search feature somewhere in this coding ..

this is serious as i do not want to reload the data (1 gb) nd reload the program ..

So I'm assuming by "rebuilt the inded" that you have installed and ran this:

but of course ... !!    

the problem has started with any new categories added (???) after i did the file tweaks/mods ...

and now anything files added after 16 june do not come up in the search box or under generic advanced search routine .. and all the old original programming has been restored to what i had edited ...

there probably is a gremlin in my sql table ...

 -- i don't want to reload all the program files again to restore the db .. but that my be the only way to debug if someone doesn't know why this is doing it ...

any thoughts ??

I'm not sure, but the root problem sounds like new things are not getting added to the search tables.  Might want to check your tables with phpMyAdmin, make sure they aren't corrupt, then compare the code that adds new info the search tables from the default install files to your current install files.

I'm at work, so I don't have the code handy, so I can't tell you exactly which files add info to the search tables, but considering how much coding you've done, I think you can snoop around and figure it out

that was my guess ..    

that the sql table is damaged .. but i have no idea what.. how .. etc ..

and of course add to that i am not very php/sql literate .. so i only have the hammer approach ..

hit it - if it breaks - then it wasn't meant to hold up to the hammer -
 

in other words .. i can delete the sql table .. and reformat it .. and corrupt the whole mess (done that) - or i can do a surgical strike with the help of those that know how to operate in the programming environment !!

anyway .. anyone else have any thoughts !!

yes ... but after that i have no clue ... i can see the tables etc .. so thats no prob .. what i don't know is the step-by-step procedure to fix it ..

perhaps you should PM so as not to clutter up this forum with the technicals ofhow to fix it .. ok?

Well, a short step by step procedure (and it may be useful to others, so we'll stick with forum communication)

1. Open phpMyAdmin
2. Select appropriate DB from left menu bar
3. Click on appropriate table that you are having problems with (you might want to do the following steps for all tables, just to make sure)
4. Click on the "Operations" tab for that table towards the top
5. Click on "Check Table"
6. If there are any errors, go back, and click "Repair Table"

i have noticed that it takes up to several hours for the database to process all the new images that i upload before the search feature will find them -

and this is after i do a rebuild search index - and sometimes after i do a database MyphpAdmin repair -

this is such a strange situation - i thought the mysql routines processed the data in real time

any ideas?

i think i've found some kind of bug in the mod...

i installed it on my site today, and now, that is counting as 27 of June, when i search for all my images on the server (***), it doesn't appear the pics that were submitted after the 0am of June 27.

why's that, why doesn't search images that were submitted on the present day?
they all have words with more than 3 letters...
i don't understand it
 

any thoughts??
