Bad Thumbnail Image Quality with ImageMagic on some pictures
« on: March 24, 2003, 11:19:26 PM »
I just installed ImageMagic and it works but for some reason few of the thumbnails on the front page are really quality and the majority are just fine. Is there any explanation for this?

Here is what it looks like:

Just so you know, I am using: Version: ImageMagick 5.5.4

open /includes/image_utils.php
Find this word: -sample
replace with: -quality

Bad Thumbnail Image Quality with ImageMagic on some pictures
« Reply #2 on: April 01, 2003, 01:24:31 PM »
Hi, I use imagemagic and it works just great when asked to resize my 450 pixel images to 100 pixel thumbs.

I have changed the wording from sample to quality as shown but now the thumbnails are produced at 450 pixel size!

I have tried to change the settings in CP with no luck and have changed back to the word sample and all returns to normal. - 100 pixel thumbs.

Any help?

Thanks.

I was hoping to improve the quality of the thumbnails that are produced by still using imagemagic. By just great what I meant was that it resizes just great - the quality of some of the thumbs produced is very low.

I thought that changing -sample to -quality was the answer. Am I mistaken in this thought?

Should I be starting with a larger image size to generate thumbs or is 450 width OK.

Regards
