Log me on automatically next visit -- doesn't.
« on: March 18, 2003, 05:55:18 PM »
Tried searching for a simliar problem but came up blank, on my photo album (http://photography.robryan.com/gallery/), checking the "log me on.." box doesn't seem to have any affect outside of that single browser session.

while i understand that if you go into the admin interface, it's supposed to not remember you by design, this happens for normal users as well.

i'm new to php, so haven't hacked any of the code, but i have had multiple instance of phpbb running on this server without any issues (none integrated with 4images, just throwing out for reference) -- ideas?

Are you using IE 6.0?
Is there a symbol with a eye and a stop symbol?
Click on it!
So IE is blocking the cookie

the cookie isn't getting blocked, aside from it being on the 'trusted' list (if you can't trust yourself, who can you?), the cookie's definately getting written to disc -- it does this in mozilla as well on both win and linux, so it's definately something server side that's not jivin'

ops...I missed your posted link  :?
hmm...I have tryed PHP v4.3 and nothing but headache I had...
and as much as I can see people having problem with v4.3. I'd say, that "u" should use it only if u really looking for troubles with MANY scripts...
probably in a year or so, when development people will adopt their software for v4.3. I might switch to it...but right now, I dont see any good reason I should strugling with it...(just my personal thought from personal experiens ;) )

after u posted this problem, I checked my site....and....I had the same problem! (I'm using PHP v4.2.3)
but, in my case, the actual problem is my NortonInternetSecurity, with medium security, that has privacy control anabled.
as soon as I turned it off and close IE window, it doesnt log me off.
but, on your site, I'm getting logoff, each time I close browser...

i was actually running 4.2 until fairly recently though, and it still wasn't working (when last security issue came out figured i'd just go straight up to 4.3)

hmm, no firewalling, etc running on the server itself - this one's got me, just because i see that the cookie is getting dumped to me, guess i'll have to try a packet sniff later and see what happens

Skip the packet sniffer, it would be a waste of time.

Actually, the two cookies that are set when the user logins in with the "auto login" checkbox checked are NOT getting sent to the browser.  I had a look at your user_loginform.html template and couldn't spot anything wrong there.  The only cookies I got were:  4images_sid, 4images_lastvisit, and 4images_userid.  That last cookie was set to -1 which means "Guest" not logged in and was sent prior to my login attempt which is normal.

I don't know why this isn't working, but if you haven't modified the 4images php code, then perhaps it's the way PHP is configured on your box.  Relevant 4images PHP files are:  gallery/login.php and gallery/includes/sessions.php

Good luck.  Sorry I couldn't help more.

thanks chris - i'll take a look at those files tomorrow against a download of the gallery scripts again and make sure nothing's been changed

in the meantime, here's my php.ini in case anyone might see something glaring (keeping in mind that this is on IIS):

Code: [Select]
[PHP]
cgi.force_redirect = 0

;;;;;;;;;;;
; WARNING ;
;;;;;;;;;;;
; This is the default settings file for new PHP installations.
; By default, PHP installs itself with a configuration suitable for
; development purposes, and *NOT* for production purposes.
; For several security-oriented considerations that should be taken
; before going online with your site, please consult php.ini-recommended
; and http://php.net/manual/en/security.php.

;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; About this file ;
;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;
; This file controls many aspects of PHP's behavior.  In order for PHP to
; read it, it must be named 'php.ini'.  PHP looks for it in the current
; working directory, in the path designated by the environment variable
; PHPRC, and in the path that was defined in compile time (in that order).
; Under Windows, the compile-time path is the Windows directory.  The
; path in which the php.ini file is looked for can be overridden using
; the -c argument in command line mode.
;
; The syntax of the file is extremely simple.  Whitespace and Lines
; beginning with a semicolon are silently ignored (as you probably guessed).
; Section headers (e.g. [Foo]) are also silently ignored, even though
; they might mean something in the future.
;
; Directives are specified using the following syntax:
; directive = value
; Directive names are *case sensitive* - foo=bar is different from FOO=bar.
;
; The value can be a string, a number, a PHP constant (e.g. E_ALL or M_PI), one
; of the INI constants (On, Off, True, False, Yes, No and None) or an expression
; (e.g. E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE), or a quoted string ("foo").
;
; Expressions in the INI file are limited to bitwise operators and parentheses:
; |        bitwise OR
; &        bitwise AND
; ~        bitwise NOT
; !        boolean NOT
;
; Boolean flags can be turned on using the values 1, On, True or Yes.
; They can be turned off using the values 0, Off, False or No.
;
; An empty string can be denoted by simply not writing anything after the equal
; sign, or by using the None keyword:
;
;  foo =         ; sets foo to an empty string
;  foo = none    ; sets foo to an empty string
;  foo = "none"  ; sets foo to the string 'none'
;
; If you use constants in your value, and these constants belong to a
; dynamically loaded extension (either a PHP extension or a Zend extension),
; you may only use these constants *after* the line that loads the extension.
;
; All the values in the php.ini-dist file correspond to the builtin
; defaults (that is, if no php.ini is used, or if you delete these lines,
; the builtin defaults will be identical).

Hello,

was this problem solved somehow?
