I feel like people started teasing everbody with "SAFE MODE" problem...

if u spend time listing all the messages that report problem, u might as well help them. This is kind of thing that don't make me feel comfortable to ask questions around here.

Before posting a question how about using the SEARCH Feature first?
That list above came from people like you who just ask the same question over and over again and opening a new topic. now.. IMAGINE... someone ased that question before and peobple actually WOULD use the search feature. there would be no list. you would search and you would get direktly the topic with the solution as the result. think before posting... and better... search!

then delete the old topics with repeated questions. and only keep the ones that are relevant with specific problems. by the way, not everybody knows who to use database.

if the questions are repeated, at least be polite to tell them to search first. not like sigh or roll eyes. Jan is very kind when he helps. I read the other threads that he helped others, he was very polite & patient.

how about not posting the same shit over and over at the first place? wouldn't that be easier? ^^

yea, but look at the above post. there are all the search topics posted, if you want to know how it wrks, then just look trough them. most people are just so lazy that the don't bother searching

Sorry for meddling in to this discussion, but I wanted to add something to this:

The way people got this answer "use search" or whatever isn't the nicest.
In fact most times it's rather rude

I ffor myself have a problem related with safe_mode, too and did use the search function and did find those threads.

But due to the fact that there are so many: "look here" answers to be found, you don't get, what you need.

I finally figured the one right post with the solution, but it took ages.
if people just added the solution and wrote please use search next time, it would be much more efficient

PLUS: it was not the one I needed, for I seem to have a problem which is not mentioned: getting the message with safe_mode after ftp uploading and trying to check new files.
This makes the program unusable for me, which is very sad because it is exactly what I was looking for

So I will just keep hoping that my request for turning safe_mode off will be accepted, as long as there are no other ideas.

thats exactly is my POINT!
see, if people wouldnt ask again and again same thing all over again, then there wouldnt be so many results for your search!

and about being rude, I think it's rude to ask same questions...
also, another tip.
each search result sorted by date, so, maybe next time try to open threads from the end. then, u might find the solution, because as u could noticed, recent threads about SAFE MODE were answered by "search the forum".

another tip for ANY FORUMS:
1. check out FAQ first.
2. then if the forum has "must read" or something simular, read it.
3. then search, and only if all that didnt successfied u, post your question.

Did that of course, problem's not for me, but for others.
Ever thought about how it was when you first found dicsussion boards and the like? It#s about 7 years that this happened to me, but I still remember being puzzled about all those things with information anywhere

And of course, you are right: not to to follow all this steps is not qhat netiquette asks about you. so you might declare it as rude.

yes, agreed. but the problem is, because not everyone would even reply for "that-kind-of-questions" after they see it 5 times a week, and not everyone would try to explain over and over again that u should go first there, then do that, then search the board. And many people get "very upset" when noone replys them...they feel being ignored, so, I'd reather just point them to the right direction instead of just ignore. For me personaly reply with 'search the forum' is not rude, is just let know what u should do, educate.

four ways

1. if u dont have access to the shell on your server, then ask your host to turn it off.
2. if u have shell access, then in php.ini change SAFE_MODE to off
3. if non of the above worked, try this: http://4homepages.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3958
4. switch host
