you don't have to install anything separatelly, it's a part of 4images. just activate auto-thumbnail from admin panel after installation.

just look in admin -> settings. chose a module u want to use (GD, ImageMagick or NetPBM)
Your first three "must do" before you ask a question:
Please do not PM me asking for help unless you've been specifically asked to do so. Such PMs will be deleted without answer. (forum rule #6)
Extension for Firefox/Thunderbird: Master Password+    Back/Forward History Tweaks (restartless)    Cookies Manager+    Fit Images (restartless for Thunderbird)

well, I only tryed GD and ImageMagick.
and personaly I prefer IM, because it supports all formats.
GD1 doesnt support .png pictures and GD2 doesnt support .gif.
but, GD2 works way much faster then IM, with same quality.
GD1 create thumbnails terrible quality.
there is a thread with poll: "witch one is better: GD or ImageMagick" u might want try to find it ;)

NetPBM seems to work quite nicely and it comes preinstalled on newer linux server installations (as well as GD)... usually located in /usr/bin for linux...
