I'm wondering how to use conditional statements in the templates.

For example, I'd like something to show in the thumbnail_bit only for specific categories.

So I'd like to do something like
 {if category_is_999}
show something for category 999
{elseif category_is_998}
show something for category 999
{else}
show something for every other category
{endif category_is_999}
