auto thumbnails broke

everything was working just fine after I fixed my last major problem with trunciated images. Now several thousand files later the aut thumbnail decided not to works! No matter how many thumbnails I try to make, 10 or a 1000 it comes back with a message 1 thumbnail was created and its always the same .jpg number? Any ideas? Set up has to be correct because I had no problem with the first 5000. What is the limit of files 4images can handle?

I dont know what MODs are. I'm using GS that came with 4images.

No limit. What is error message say (exact from server) ?

there is no error message.  below is exactly what it says

Create thumbnail for: c3o7z5y1frog.5546 (c3o7z5y1frog.5546.jpg) ....

that comes up if I select 1 or 1000 thumbnails to create. Just that one line over and over "No thumbnail is created." I checked the original to see if it was messed up internally. It can be viewed just fine in 4images.

I tried skipping file 5546 and I just geet the same results as above but with a different file number.
