Trying to move install out of www root
« on: December 26, 2006, 07:39:03 PM »
I am trying to move the install of 4images from the doc root of the server (/srv/www/htdocs running on SuSe / Apache2)
I moved the entire structure over to the new file system/directory and no matter what permissions a set on the directory Apache continuously returns 403 (Permission Denied) errors.
I also setp an alias to point to the new area in the main apache conf file.
What is the preferred method of moveing the entire install of 4images or at the very least moveing the midia folder to a new area on the server to ensure that my root (/) disk doesn't get consumed by photos.

Thanks

A lot of views but no replies??
I've tried to SymLink the media directory...No Go.
My ideal situation would simply be to keep the Main Directory under my webroot and house the data folder elsewhere.
Am I missing something very obvious?  Is it perhaps an Apache config issue in trying to use in this configuration?

Thanks

Does anyone have any insight or am I destined to get Zero response to these questions?

This can't be an unheard of configuration.

Thanks

The problem is that I have the 4images directory structure under /srv/www/htdocs (WebServer Root).
I want to keep this directory structure in tact but have the actual pictures folder /data/media on another file system that has more space.
I have also tried moving the entire 4images folder to this area and doing a virtual pointer on Apache (Linux) to that area but I end up getting 403 errors when attemting to access the site.

Does this explain it better?

Thanks

I think you must try to ask the user in a apache/linux forum...

The web server is running just fine.  What I'm looking for is a way in the scripts or database of 4images to define a different path to a folder to house the pictures.

Thanks
