How can I upload backup onto new 1.7.4 (Hacked database deleted)
« on: December 12, 2006, 08:20:55 PM »
I was hacked yesterday (I was running 1.7.2) with no patches at www.sewandtell.org.  I had no clue.  I have been regularly backing up the site through the 4images administration panel and then downloading them through the same panel onto my computer.  There is no information left on my site.  This morning I  reinstalled 4 images using the new version 1.7.4.

Is is possible to take these backups and install them on to the new 1.7.4 that is on the site?  The back ups say they are sql files. If so how do I do this?  Or is everything lost and I just need to move forward and start new?

Please help if you can.

Thank you
NicoleC

Upload the files to the folder "data/database". After that, they should appear under "Backup database" in your Control Panel. Just click on "Restore" to apply a backup.
Your first three "must do" before you ask a question:
1. Forum rules
2. FAQ
3. Search

Thank you for your reply.  I installed the new 1.7.4 last night and started uploading pictures.  If I use the backup will this all be overwritten?

Thank you so much for your time :)

I went ahead and restored the database as you suggested above.  It did not restore any images.  Should I be saving these in a seperate way?

Also I can not log on to the administration panel now - Is there a way to fix this, maybe in the cpanel?

Thanks you

Hello:
you also have to upload all of the content of your_backuped_site/data/media and all its content to your_website/data/media.
If you have backed up your old database, you will have to use your old admin login and password to connect to your ACP.

I only backedup through the admin panel.  :(  I hope that now that I have the members names and emails they will send in the missing photos and I can have it back up soon.

How should I back up the photos?  Import them through front page? Or save them individualy to my hard drive?

Thank you guys again for all the help and for getting back at least some of what I lost.  Happy holidays to you :)
