Mass aquiring images / mass editing image information

Now that I have successfully installed and tested 4images, I need a way to import, lets say 1000 images at once. Is there another possibility beside the "upload" images dialog? Or is there some generic approach I oversaw in the "upload images" dialog?

This goes hand in hand with the next question, is there a way to mass-assign keywords or reassign categories? (I've already noted that you can only assign a image to ONE categorie.)

Basically I need a system wich allows for fast and easy adding of many images at once.
