IP question - please advise
« on: February 26, 2006, 04:18:02 AM »
I know, thats my third question for today, but i have a real problem.

I'am making a "picture of the monh" contest, where users can upload their picuses and win a price (dvd home system) - but there are many user who try to fake votes, they register under different names and vote for their picture.

is there any way, to save the IP (from the registration) of an user, and show the IP in the ACP under "edit users"? Thats the only way i can control who's cheating, and whos not. The most important thing is to "sort user by ip" - that would solve my problems.

Or just something like a log of IP/username, i just need something to view all IP's and find multiple usernames with just one IP.

Please advise (its urgend, contest is finishing in 5 days Sad, and i want to have a real winner )

I have the same problem.
Has anyone an idea?

Probably one like:
- a countdown in the vote button
- or a cookie or flash cookie that disables a second vote from an ip for half an hour
- or a solution to make the scripts not accessable from extern hits
- or a captcha code that needs to be typed in before voting?

This is a problem, even if any guest without registration can vote

Hope you can help us!
