Title: Flash Slideshow
Post by: GAGA on April 02, 2005, 05:20:03 PM
Hi,

due to a lot of postings are gone i decided to add this mod, because i wasn't able to find it in this forum anymore. I don't know the real author. Otherwise I would give him or her the full credit. I just changed some lines of the code.

Here is a quick installation guide:

Quote
Installation (4images Version 1.7.1):
-------------------------------------

1. Replace "categories.php" (see the appendix below) in your 4images root folder.
2. Copy "slideshow3.swf", "flashshow.php" and flash_detect.js in your 4images root folder.
3. Copy "flashshow.gif" and "flashshow_off.gif" in your templates/yourtemplate/images/ - folder
4. Copy "flashshow.html" in your templates/yourtemplate/ - folder
5. Add {flashshow_button} somewhere, usually besides the upload button, in your categories.html to show the slideshow button
6. Add following lines to your main.php language file:

   //--- FLASHSHOW -------------------------------------
   //--- This lines are for the Hyperlink Description ---
   $lang['alt_flashshow']        = "Click here for a flashshow (slide show in flash) of the category";
   $lang['alt_flashshow_off']    = "Only registered and logged users have access to the slideshow.";

Appendix: If you don't want to offer the Slideshow to unregistered Users, you have to use "categories (registered users only).php". Just remove (registered users only) from the file name ;-)

Edit: Feel free to modify the "slideshow3.fla" file.

how about 4images 1.7 is ti the same  :roll:
Title: Re: Flash Slideshow
Post by: GAGA on April 03, 2005, 04:14:39 AM
Hi mantra,

it should work properly under 4images 1.7 too. But I run it only with version 1.7.1. However, you should backup all changed files (there are only a few) before you implement it, cause it could be that some of the files have been changed since 1.7. So it's easy to switch back. Unfortunately I'm pretty busy at the moment and don't have the time to test it under 1.7. But the code segments are commented and you only have to change "categories.php". So you can do it yourself. Good luck :wink:

First of all, I'm pretty busy and don't have enough spare time to check all error reports. If you are looking for a demo page with this Slideshow Mod use Google. There are quite a lot of 4images pages. One of this -> http://www.sun-projects.de/gallery/categories.php?cat_id=1#. I know there is some strange bug which causes problems with some kind of pictures. I will review the code as soon as possible to figure out where it is. Unfortunately this will take maybe a few weeks. For Source extrapolation download the original 1.7.1 categories.php and compare the changes in the modified file with a tool like e.g. Beyond Compare. Pretty easy to perform, ... Well, I think so.

Hi GAGA

thanks for sharing :-)

But unfortunatelly the file is corrupted.
I tried it with 2 different browsers.

Any chance of replacing?

Thanks in advance

Post by: GAGA on April 16, 2005, 03:03:24 AM
Hi wilson, the file isn't corrupted. It's just compressed by WinRaR. Try to change the file ending to rar and extract it. You should be aware of some problems with this mod. Some modifications are necessary to create an really unique xml file. This should be done with the sessionid, maybe with cookies. Furthermore there are some circumstances under which the code creates a corrupt xml file. I will check and fix this. I highly recommend to test the flash plugin with more than 1 user viewing the show and under different circumstances.

I compressed the package with WinRAR because it's a little bit smaller than a zipped file. Unfortunately you can't upload files with rar extension. Therefore I renamed it. However, I don't mind that you changed this issue :)

thanks for sharing this fine mod.  :lol:

Yes, of course that's possible. V@no has made a modification of this mod without creating xml files on your drive. This mod actually shows all pictures from a category. So you just have to download his package. You can get it here http://gallery.vano.org/file67dl.

Remove all slideshow code lines in categories.php except the lines which are responsible for showing the slideshow-button:
Code: [Select]
$flashshow_url = $site_sess->url(ROOT_PATH."flashshow.php?action=flashshow&".URL_CAT_ID."=".$cat_id);
$flashshow_button = "<A HREF=\"#\" onClick=\"window.open('".$flashshow_url."','_blank','toolbar=0, location=0, directories=0, status=0, scrollbars=0, resizable=0, copyhistory=0, menuBar=0, width=640, height=480');return(false)\"><img src=\"".get_gallery_image("flashshow.gif")."\" border=\"0\" alt=\"".$lang['alt_flashshow']."\" /></a>";

 $site_template->register_vars(array(
  "flashshow_url" => $flashshow_url,
  "flashshow_button" => $flashshow_button
  ));

Replace the .fla and flashow.php file. At last add
Code: [Select]
$lang['slideshow'] = "Slideshow"; in main.php and you're done.

okay all is working now since i downloaded the new package from venos site  :D great work thanks

one question i remember this post a year ago and there was a mod so the flashshow counted the number of hits can someone please tell me how to add the count to the images if viewing the slideshow

thankyou
RT
Title: Re: Flash Slideshow
Post by: V@no on April 21, 2005, 12:46:29 AM
It would be tricky, because flash part of the mod loads list of images to be displayed and then it downloads them directly from the directory the images are placed. It does not execute a php code every time it downloads a new image, therefore, there is no way to add such counter...

yes u can, but for now only with this version:
http://www.4homepages.de/forum/index.php?topic=7196.msg33512#msg33512
The url format must be:

for search results: flashshow.php?mode=search
for lightboxz: flashshow.php?mode=lightbox

Hopefuly GAGA will publish a tutorial on how to install it ;)

Hello Gaga

your installation instruction is not that easy!
where do i have to add this code?

Code: [Select]
$flashshow_url = $site_sess->url(ROOT_PATH."flashshow.php?action=flashshow&amp;".URL_CAT_ID."=".$cat_id);
$flashshow_button = "<A HREF=\"#\" onClick=\"window.open('".$flashshow_url."','_blank','toolbar=0, location=0, directories=0, status=0, scrollbars=0, resizable=0, copyhistory=0, menuBar=0, width=640, height=480');return(false)\"><img src=\"".get_gallery_image("flashshow.gif")."\" border=\"0\" alt=\"".$lang['alt_flashshow']."\" /></a>";

$site_template->register_vars(array(

flashshow.php half way down look for and change this

[code if ($result = $site_db->query($sql))
  {
    $xmlcontent ="<slideshow>\r\n  <settings>\r\n    <image_folder>".MEDIA_PATH."/</image_folder>\r\n    <time>3</time>\r\n    <fade>0.4</fade>\r\n    <pause>false</pause>\r\n    <playReverse>false</playReverse>\r\n    <repeat>true</repeat>\r\n    <captions>true</captions>\r\n  </settings>\r\n  <images>\r\n\r\n";
    while ($image_row = $site_db->fetch_array($result))
    {
      if (!is_remote($image_row['image_media_file']))
]
Code: [Select]

Excellent!  I've been wanting a decent slideshow option for my 4images installations -- and this works perfectly.  I thought I would post a quickie instructions for a successful installation (it works in both IE and Firefox).

(1)   Download the files from VANO.  http://gallery.vano.org/file67dl

(2)   Extract the zip file.

(3)   Upload flashshow.php, slideshow4.fla, and slideshow4.swf to your root 4images folder.

(4)   Upload flash.html to your templates folder.

(5)   Open categories.php (found in your root 4images folder).   Find

Code: [Select]
$site_template->register_vars("thumbnails", $thumbnails);
unset($thumbnails);

Add the following code ABOVE that.

Code: [Select]
//-----------------------------------------------------
//--- Slideshow Additiions BEGINS-------------------------------------
//-----------------------------------------------------

$flashshow_url = $site_sess->url(ROOT_PATH."flashshow.php?action=flashshow&amp;".URL_CAT_ID."=".$cat_id);
$flashshow_button = "<A HREF=\"#\" onClick=\"window.open('".$flashshow_url."','_blank','toolbar=0, location=0, directories=0, status=0, scrollbars=0, resizable=0, copyhistory=0, menuBar=0, width=640, height=480');return(false)\">View Slideshow of Images</a>";

$site_template->register_vars(array(
  "flashshow_url" => $flashshow_url,
  "flashshow_button" => $flashshow_button
  ));

  //-----------------------------------------------------
//--- Slideshow Additions END -------------------------------------
//-----------------------------------------------------

(6) Save the changes and upload your new categories.php.

(7) Open main.php (found in lang folder).  At the end, right before ?> add this:

Code: [Select]
//-----------------------------------------------------
//--- Slideshow -------------------------------------
//-----------------------------------------------------
$lang['slideshow'] = "Slideshow";

( 8 ) Save and upload your new main.php

(9)   Open categories.html (found in templates)

Where you want the Slideshow link to appear - add the following code:

Code: [Select]
{flashshow_button}

(10)  Save and upload your new categories.html

That's it!  It works perfectly -- no problems whatsover in any of the browsers I tested it in.

@Vincent
find this code in categories.php:
Code: [Select]
//-----------------------------------------------------
//--- flash Show changes 01 starts here          ---------
//-----------------------------------------------------
//-----------------------------------------------------
// Configrable variables ------------------------------
$max_height = "1024";  // any images with a greater height will not be included in slide show
$max_width   = "1024";  // any images with a greater width will not be included in slide show
check the height/width of the pics which do not display and try to modify the max values shown in this code.

For those who ask the question, I wrote the original version of this mod for 4images 1.7 and in this (actual!!!) mod I do not see the management of the researches, lightbox and paging...   :?
after a problem of hard disk  :roll: I get back my data (slowly but certainly). I'll publish the complete mod for version 1.7 when I'll find it with some missing line of codes.. 8)

Gaga's mod works fine BUT when i noticed that some images are not showing in the slideshow, I discovered that it does not show the gif images - anyway to get this fixed?

Secondly, lol, I just saw that V@no has another version of this slideshow AND I checked his flashshow.php file and it has the endfile of the images (gif included). So, I would like to try to install V@no's version but now I have a problem - do I have to remove EVERYTHING I did with Gaga's version?

I am afraid to touch anything further lol because I basically have zero knowledge of php. Help would be very much appreciated. :)

I guess so.. I am no expert in flash - could be that it does not accept gif files (animated and non-animated) - I just noticed that the slideshow states 4 images (which is true) but then it skips the gif files and shows only the jpg ones - hence in actuality only showing 2 images.

I confirm: in the original version of the script, no gif file is shown...  :?
I fetch in the code if it is an explicit limitation or not!

and what happens with the characters in europe? (i can not test this!!!)
  :?:  Is the file xml in accordance with the expectations?
  :?:  How are written the names of the images?

I have strange problem I cannot resolve. I've installed the slideshow with the 3rd version of the files. I then followed the instructions for "flashshow" and installed version 4 of some files. I was pretty meticulous in following the instuctions.

Problem: The slideshow works perfectly in opera, explorer and firefox some of the time and not at all other times. Clicking the link has no effect at times. On Explorer you can sometimes show a small directory but not larger directories.

Any suggestions?

Tim

I installed the version that V@no has on his web site... and I experienced the following issues

a) Only a few pictures are showing up in the slideshow.. I have 50 pictures in the category and only 10 are showing up. I checked the sizes and all the pictures are smaller than the max size in the code. How do i fix this?

b) Even un-registered users can see the slideshow. How do I make sure that only registered users can see the slideshow?

I have checked this forum for help, but could not find an answer. Someone please help. thanks

I like the flashshow, looks very nice.

Is there any way to change the flash file to achieve the following:

- Change the window size so that pictures will be dsiplay with 800 pixel instead of 640 ?
- Change the default option settings ?

I'm not familiar with flash. So i wondering if that can be changed when opening the file with the Macromedia editor.

Thanks, Martin

OK, just found out that i can change the default options via the button link in categories.php.

But how can the images displayed be displayed with ahigher resolution (e.g. 800x600 instead of 640x480) ?

Any help is highly appreciated.

Thanks, Martin

what is the size of your pictures ? 800x600 or 640x480 ?
do you want to increase the size or simply dislay pictures up to 800x600 ?
did you try this (http://www.4homepages.de/forum/index.php?topic=7196.msg37163#msg37163) ?

I already set the max., dimensions so that they will fit to my images.

My pics are at least 800x600 or greater. Currently they will be all resized and displayed with 640x480. I would like to get the flash show to resize/show them with 800x600 pixel instead.

Thanks, Martin

if you want to display bigger pics (up to 1024x768 here), try this:

Code: [Select]
window.open('".$flashshow_url."','_blank','toolbar=0, location=0, directories=0, status=0, scrollbars=0, resizable=0, copyhistory=0, menuBar=0, width=640, height=480')and replace by:
Code: [Select]
window.open('".$flashshow_url."','_blank','toolbar=0, location=0, directories=0, status=0, scrollbars=0, resizable=0, copyhistory=0, menuBar=0, width=1024, height=768')[/list]

Code: [Select]
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0" WIDTH="640" HEIGHT="480"and replace by :
Code: [Select]
codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,0,0" WIDTH="1024" HEIGHT="768"[/list]

BUT... all the images (even smallest) will be modified to reach this size  :?
to answer your question here : replace 1024x768 to 800x600 .

@cheribibi: Thanks, but that's what i already tried. Please have a look at the attached image to see how the result looks like the code is modified. The problem is that the window will be 800x600 but the pics are still displayed with 640x480.

Cannot find the attached pic so i placed it onto my web server. the URL is http://www.newyorkcity.de/foo/flashshow.jpg.

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance!

Code: [Select]
System.useCodepage = true;

Hello!

For using special letters write in the first line of your Flash-Actionscript

Code: [Select]
System.useCodepage = true;
Then you will see äÄöÖüÜß... too.

I just installed this, and it works great except for one thing:

If a user has his category set to only view 6 pictures per page.
When you start the slide-show, it only shows those 6 picures, instead of all the pictures in that category.

Is there anyway to make it show all of the pictures in that category?

Title: Re: Flash Slideshow
Post by: Amosnet on May 08, 2006, 12:31:54 PM
I fixed the "upgrade.html not found" Problem in Firefox and Mozilla Browser

open flash_detect.js file in your 4images mail directory

above:
Code: [Select]
   // IE4+ Win32:  attempt to create an ActiveX object using VBScript
   else if (agent.indexOf("msie") != -1 && parseInt(navigator.appVersion) >= 4 && agent.indexOf("win")!=-1 && agent.indexOf("16bit")==-1) {

add:
Code: [Select]
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="slideshow4.swf" width="800" height="600">
<param name="movie" value="slideshow4.swf" />
<param name="menu" value="false" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#BFC901" />
Your browser does not support flash.
</object>

Can be that you dont need all the param name, like bgcolor, but i dont know.

Tell me if this worked out for you.

Yes, of course that's possible. V@no has made a modification of this mod without creating xml files on your drive. This mod actually shows all pictures from a category. So you just have to download his package. You can get it here http://gallery.vano.org/file67dl.

Hi,

I had the same problem, that the MOD from the 1st post was not working. I did these steps:
- download zip from 1st post
- add the firefox changes
- changed my exiting categories.php 1.7.4 with the changes for the flash show
- downloaded actual slideshow4.* files from working sliedshows here
- changed the obtect loads and some other parts of the files to bring it up to work

My files are here in this zip. Give it a try. And thanks to all who makes such a good gallery and nice mods.

Attached a modified zip-file - a small bug with the screen resolution of the pub up box of the flash show.

Take my included categories.php, its for 1.7.4 and working well on my side or open two editors, once with the original categories.php and one for the flash-version and copy and past all parts which are marked in comment for flash sideshow. If I remember right, there are 4 parts you need to edit.

Hi,

this error comes from your php settings in your php.ini. Your options are set to "safe_mode = On ", change it to "safe_mode = Off" and it should work. But you will put down the security level of your web server which could have some risks for hacks.

Please have a look at http://de.php.net/features.safe-mode or search for "safe_mode and php" at google for further information.

Hallo Alle!!

/ Configrable variables ------------------------------
$max_height = "1024";  // any images with a greater height will not be included in slide show
$max_width   = "1024";  // any images with a greater width will not be included in slide show

Hallo Erik,

Erik

Gerade gefunden: Wenn man

flashshow.php?mode=lightbox

flashshow.php?mode=lightbox

Hallo,

 <td align="right">{download_button}{flashshow_button}</td>

I fixed the "upgrade.html not found" Problem in Firefox and Mozilla Browser

open flash_detect.js file in your 4images mail directory

above:
Code: [Select]
   // IE4+ Win32:  attempt to create an ActiveX object using VBScript
   else if (agent.indexOf("msie") != -1 && parseInt(navigator.appVersion) >= 4 && agent.indexOf("win")!=-1 && agent.indexOf("16bit")==-1) {

add:
Code: [Select]
<object type="application/x-shockwave-flash" data="slideshow4.swf" width="800" height="600">
<param name="movie" value="slideshow4.swf" />
<param name="menu" value="false" />
<param name="bgcolor" value="#BFC901" />
Your browser does not support flash.
</object>

Can be that you dont need all the param name, like bgcolor, but i dont know.

Tell me if this worked out for you.

I am having this problem how can i fix this

and what should i edit in categories.php cause on the package it has the option to replace it but i have other mods installed as well so what changes should i really make.... what should i modify

Hi,

please open a categories.php from my last posts. If you scroll it down, you will find the modified parts of the file. You must copy and paste all of them to you file at the same positions.

The flashdetect.js file of my post works well on Firefox 1.5 and 2, IE and opera. Please download the latest zip-file and try with this.

Hi,

Zeile 229 enthält: "if (!$handle = fopen($xmlfile_user, 'a')) {"

After Installation I get the failiure message "Warning: fopen(slideshow_1.xml): failed to open stream: Permission denied in /www/htdocs/v157014/Gallery/categories.php on line 229 " as soon as I click a categorie. As in a few postings earlier discriebs by Egyptsons.
Save Mode is off, as my Web-Hoster confirmed
He told me to change th chmod
For testig i´d set chmod of affected files to 777. No changes, failiure message stays the same. My 4 Images Version: 1.7.4 I used Flash Slide Sow 4_1 Anybody any further ideas?

Row 229 shows    "if (!$handle = fopen($xmlfile_user, 'a')) {"

on row 32 iI added "include(ROOT_PATH.'includes/stats.php');" due to the statistic mod. Removing this had no success

Hi Yeti,

Schau bitte mal hier:
http://de2.php.net/fopen
und
http://de2.php.net/manual/de/ref.filesystem.php#ini.allow-url-fopen

PHP and 4images newbie here!!!

I am getting "Sorry, but you cannot create a flashshow with only 1 picture" message when in a category with 342 images.  I have used the files from Flash SlideShow_4, and tried all the suggestions I can find in this thread.  I am more than willing to provide whatever info anyone needs, I'm just not sure what info to give.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

so wie's Vincent gemacht hat -> http://www.foto-kocher.com/flashshow.php?cat_id=58" (http://www.foto-kocher.com/flashshow.php?cat_id=58")

http://fotowerner.at/categories.php?cat_id=12 (http://fotowerner.at/categories.php?cat_id=12)

Code: [Select]
//-----------------------------------------------------
//--- flash Show changes 04 starts here          ---------
//-----------------------------------------------------

      if ($countit > 1)  {
      $flashshow_url = $site_sess->url(ROOT_PATH."flashshow.php?action=flashshow&amp;".URL_CAT_ID."=".$cat_id);
        $flashshow_button = "<A HREF=\"#\" onClick=\"window.open('".$flashshow_url."','_blank','toolbar=0, location=0, directories=0, status=0, scrollbars=0, resizable=0, copyhistory=0, menuBar=0, left=350, top=185, width=640, height=480');return(false)\"><img src=\"".get_gallery_image("flashshow.gif")."\" border=\"0\" alt=\"".$lang['alt_flashshow']."\" /></a>";

   } else {
      $flashshow_button = " <img src=\"".get_gallery_image("flashshow_off.gif")."\" border=\"0\" alt=\"Sorry, but you cannot make a flashshow with only 1 picture!!!\" />";
   }

$num_rows_all = (isset($cat_cache[$cat_id]['num_images'])) ? $cat_cache[$cat_id]['num_images'] : 0;

 if ($num_rows_all > 0)  {
  $random_cat_image = (defined("SHOW_RANDOM_IMAGE") && SHOW_RANDOM_IMAGE == 0) ? "" : get_random_image($cat_id);
  $site_template->register_vars(array(
  "flashshow_url" => $flashshow_url,
  "cat_name" => htmlspecialchars($cat_cache[$cat_id]['cat_name']),
  "flashshow_button" => $flashshow_button
  ));
}

//-----------------------------------------------------
//--- flash Show changes 04 ends here          ---------
//-----------------------------------------------------

Vielen Dank im Voraus..............
