Post by: winzie on August 24, 2018, 01:09:10 PM
Hi everyone wondering if anyone has a solutions for the issue l have found.

4images Vers 1.8
PHP version: 5.6.30
4images admin panel says it is running as GB Library

you can upload the file .gif to site without a trouble and can view it at the site

if you click on the download button of the image.gif it will ask save or open if you do either you can not view/see the image.gif at all

you get error saying
image.gif we can't open this file.

l have downloaded the same image.gif file direct using FTP from domain back to PC and can view it fine.

Thanks in advance for any help ! is driving me crazy

l use other sites running 4images set up the same and do not have this problem .

l tried to back up the data base in admin control panel noticed this red error at top
You can see the image when viewing on the site
when you download it you get a strange file white/blue
when you try view or open it you get we can't open this file
attached are domain info images

Hello

You will probably have to accept that this is not much going on.

4images has not been developed for years.

I do not think much will happen there.

When I downloaded the one image you had up,  when I tried to open it in Photoshop it gave me a phrase error.

I have noticed two reason this happens one you might have changed the file from a jpg using file renamer program.

Or you modified the template using notepad instead of using Wordpad because notepad adds junk code that can mess with how things are downloaded.  When you make modifications to your template in cpanel make sure you open as a UTF 8 and not as a windows 1252 or 1251.  I would check the details.html page make sure you can open it in the 4image cpanel edit templates and if it's blank then you need to go to the cpanel open it with encoding UTF 8 and save it again see if that helps if not

I think you can in PSP batch convert files to gif and see if that works.

I hope that makes sense if neither of that works I'm at a loss.  I'll check on your site later see if you found an answer.

Try one of the old edesign templates and try and download something, Tabby had this issue awhile back I couldn't remember what we did to fix it.  Check with the host also make sure they don't have some kind of firewall that is blocking files I had that problem with my zip files.  If you need an old edeisgn template I'll see if I can send you one.
